This was the most challenging and competitive project that we completed in CEA. The main goal of this project was to redesign an existing house with a certain set of constraints. The two largest constraints for this project were definitely the small size of the home, and the strict regulations that were enforced by Arlington Heights regulation codes. While navigating these two obstacles, I also had to consider the cost and accessibility of the home. After the initial design phase, our class narrowed down the competition to only 3 homes. While my home placed 4th, I felt it was valuable to view and experience other student's thought processes when redesigning the home. I think that an aspect that made me loose was the size of my design. By increasing the size and the budget for the house, my design would have been a high risk plan. Overall, this project gave me a chance to test both my knowledge and skill when redesigning a residential structure.
This was the original house that we had to reconstruct.
